Healdton — A high-speed chase spanning two counties resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old Marietta man Tuesday afternoon. Larry Williams was booked into Carter County Detention Center on pending charges. On Wednesday, the District Attorney filed charges of eluding/attempting to elude a police officer. Bail was set at $10,000 and as of Wednesday evening, Williams had not posted bail.

Williams has a history of eluding police officers having served a 10-year sentence for the same offense in 2001, according to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Web site.

The case against Williams began about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when Healdton police officer Brian Walker said he heard the loud exhaust of an older model Ford car pass by at a high rate of speed on Main Street. Walker accelerated to 85 miles per hour in an effort to catch up to the vehicle and activated his emergency lights. Rather than pull over and stop, the vehicle made a U-Turn and passed by Walker.
