| Man Gets Life Sentence Commuted |

A week after his life sentence was commuted, convicted murder Thomas Cress is waiting to be released from his prison cell. Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm commuted the sentence of Cress, 54, before she left office last week but his attorneys said they are still trying to determine details including when Cress will be released. "We have been making a lot of phone calls and getting a lot of voice mails," said David Moran of the Innocence Project at the University of Michigan Law School. "We have been calling the warden and the assistant warden," he said Wednesday, as well as officials of the Michigan Department of Corrections. "We think he is going to be moved." Read More. |
