| AZ Hostage Taker Has History With Law |

PHOENIX -- Adam Hernandez' troubles with the law started long before he became the prime suspect in a shootout with a U.S. Marshal's task force and the taking of two hostages at a Chandler Baja Fresh on Wednesday. Maricopa County Superior Court records paint a picture of a troubled teen, who had gone on an “excessive crime spree” that included burglaries and aggravated assault. He went to prison shortly before his 20th birthday, after a slew of crimes in 2002. According to court records, those crimes included holding up a woman and her 4-year-old daughter as they left a skating lesson. Investigators said Hernandez pointed a gun and threatened to kill her if she didn't give up her purse. Ultimately, Hernandez took a plea deal, pleading guilty to aggravated assault and spending nearly seven years in prison. He was released in 2009. Read More. |
