| Prison Gets Visit From Hazmat |

PONTIAC — A hazardous-materials event was reported Thursday at Pontiac Correctional Center, but officials declined to say what it is. Four members of Bloomington hazardous-materials response team were called about 3:30 p.m. to the prison to assist the Pontiac Fire Department. The event was concluded by 5:25 p.m., said Department of Corrections spokewoman Sharyn Elman. “We really have no comment, but there were no injuries. Everyone was fine,” she said when asked about the nature of the incident. “In all situations we are very cautious to do all we can to ensure the safety of the public, the staff and the inmates.” Read More. |
