Those relatively new to Morris County may not know the name, James Koedatich. Those who have lived here for years will have no trouble recognizing the name of a convicted killer who terrorized Morris County in late 1982. That's not an exaggeration. Koedatich was convicted of murdering two young women two weeks apart in November and December of that year. Both were abducted in different parts of Morris County; one in Hanover Township and the other in Morris Township. Prior to his capture a month after the second killing, fear, especially among young women, was palpable. Koedatich's trial was moved to Sussex County because of the attention the crimes drew in Morris.
