The state Department of Corrections flooded the Lackawanna County Prison on Thursday with 125 officers in a top-to-bottom search of the facility at the request of its interim warden. Vincent Mooney called the search an "unprecedented event" spurred by the "extremely lackadaisical" search procedures he found upon taking control of the prison Nov. 17. The interim warden said he intended the search to find "what, if any" contraband existed in the facility and to provide its staff with a "fresh start." Read More. |
