| New Law Could Put Inmate Info Online |

South Dakota prison officials are seeking a change in state law that could eventually lead to placing information about inmates on the Internet. The department of corrections has asked the legislature to pass a bill that would allow the prison system to release photos and physical descriptions of inmates for general notification of crime victims and the public. Prison officials now can release a photo and physical description only of an inmate who escaped.
