Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown presented a status update on Santa Barbara County Jail’s Mental Health Services to the Board of Supervisors with a mix of praise and caution. While the report highlighted some improvements over the last 18 months, it also noted underlying problems within the system remain the same. “In order to protect public safety it’s very important that the county provide quality mental health services,” Brown said. In 2009 the county contracted with PHS Correctional Healthcare, a private company that specializes in providing health services to correctional institutions. Read More. |
