MI Killer Threat To Prison Guards

Nathaniel Abraham's choices between good and bad made him famous as an 11-year-old in Pontiac convicted as an adult of murder, and, after being given every chance at rehabilitation, put him back behind bars at age 22.

Now 25, Abraham is accused of assaulting two Corrections officers in a state prison in Adrian where he had been serving a 4-to-20 year sentence for trying to sell drugs.

Abraham is set for a 1 p.m. Jan. 24 hearing before Lenawee County District Judge Laura Schaedler in Adrian. It is unclear whether Abraham will be brought by authorities from his current prison in Ionia or whether he will participate by a video link to the court. He was transferred from the Adrian Correctional Facility to a segregation unit at the Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility after the Nov. 21 incident.

Set for possible release on parole in August, Abraham now faces the possibility of a longer sentence. Assault of a Corrections officer carries a potential two-year sentence and up to four if it caused injury.
