| North Kingstown’s Nicholas Violante Promoted to Lieutenant |

CRANSTON, R.I. – January 20, 2011 – Corrections Director Ashbel T. Wall II has announced the promotion of Nicholas Violante of North Kingstown, a 22-year veteran of the Department, to Correctional Officer Lieutenant. Lt. Violante is assigned to the Intake Service Center. He has served at the High Security Center for the past 22 years and was voted that facility’s Correctional Officer of the Year by the Rhode Island Brotherhood of Correctional Officers in 1999. Lt. Violante has been a member of the Correctional Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) since 1997 and its Weapons Team since 1998. Since 2000 he has been its Sniper Team Leader. Lt. Violante has completed several SWAT and Sniper schools. He is a National Rifle Association certified Shotgun Instructor and has successfully passed the Smith & Wesson, Crosshairs Inc., and JTF6 Sniper Schools. |
