Colorado inmates blamed for riot in Mississippi
By AP
Published: 07/23/2004

A Mississippi prison was on lockdown Thursday after at least 28 inmates from Colorado were involved in an uprising.
The disturbance occurred just one day after a similar riot at a Colorado lockup. Both are operated by Nashville-based Corrections Corporation of America.
Inmates set fire to mattresses and clothing during Wednesday night's riot at the Tallahatchie County Correctional Facility in Tutwiler, Mississippi. No injuries were reported.
Officials say officers had everything under control within an hour.
CCA signed a contract with Colorado last month to house 128 maximum-security inmates at the Tutwiler facility. At least 35 Colorado prisoners are now there.
