All newly elected officials promise change, but the Orangeburg County sheriff-elect says citizens will see results in a hurry. "In the next 60-90 days people will notice a difference," Leroy Ravenell said. "They will see a change in the appearance of our deputies, both mental and physical. "We will police Orangeburg County like we have never policed it before, starting now. This is a new day." Ravenell replaces the late Sheriff Larry Williams, who died last September. He called the death of his friend a loss for the county. He will fill out Williams' third term, which ends in 2012.
