Training Co. To Continue Work With NM DOC

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Department of Corrections has renewed a federal-state training partnership in corrections.

State Corrections Secretary-designate Lupe Martinez signed a memorandum of understanding last week with the assistant secretary for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, William Brownfield.

The federal agency and the state Corrections Department have worked together to provide training for prison staff from various countries, including Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize and Brazil.

The partnership focuses on certifying correctional academy instructors for those countries so the instructors have the skills to train their own employees in modern correctional practices.
