BONIFAY -- (AP) -- Authorities say a man accused of killing his parents in the Florida Panhandle has fatally shot a corrections officer and is also dead. Jackson County Sheriff's officials said a homeowner confronted Wade Andrew Williams in the woods Wednesday morning. Thirty-five year-old Williams tried to shoot the homeowner, but missed. Williams fled, setting off a massive manhunt that sheriff's officials say ended in a gun battle with the officer and suspect dead. Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger says a K-9 corrections officer from Holmes County was killed. His name was not immediately released. Williams' parents, Bruce and Sharon Williams, were found dead in their two-story home in Cottondale last week. Read More. |
