| Accident Leaves Corrections Officer Dead |

TOWN OF ULSTER — A corrections officer died and two others were injured as a result of a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon. A state Department of Corrections van driven by Casamiro Pomales, 52, was involved in a crash at 1:35 p.m. about two miles north of the I-87 Kingston exit. Pomales, who has worked at Eastern Correctional Facility in Napanoch since 1989, died, while corrections officer John Minuck and prisoner Ralph Ambert suffered non life-threatening injuries, said spokeswoman Linda Foglia.
