Drug Use Inside Saipan Prison

An ex-convict who is on probation has admitted to smoking “ice” while detained at the Department of Corrections, according to the U.S. Probation Office.

U.S. Probation Officer Melinda B. Santos stated in her report that when she confronted Juan Teigita on Oct. 28 with laboratory results showing that “ice” was present in his system, Teigita admitted smoking “ice” inside DOC before his release on Aug. 11, 2010.

After further discussion, Santos said, Teigita admitted that he smoked “ice” on Oct. 13, 2010.

Teigita, however, refused to disclose who gave him the drug, Santos said.
