MONTICELLO – A prisoner at the state’s Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg was convicted in Sullivan County Court of promoting prison contraband in the first degree, as a felony. After a two day trial, the jury found Barry Green, 33, guilty of possessing dangerous contraband, a cell phone and its charger, at the maximum security facility. Green faces up to 3½ to seven years as a second felony offender when sentenced. He is currently serving two sentences totaling 15 years to life for second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder committed in Brooklyn in 1993. The phone was discovered by corrections officers on September 9, 2009 and the case was investigated by the Department of Corrections’ inspector general’s office. Read More. |
