| Cell Phone Rules To Tighten At Prisons |

Senator Alex Padilla from California is going to introduce a State Senate Bill 26 which could make it illegal for inmates in state prisons to have cell phones in their possession. Inmates that are found to have used a cell phone "to faciliate a crime," could have two, three, or five years added to their current sentence. Similarly, if an inmate is simply found in possession of a mobile device, he or she could "lose credit for time already served," MSNBC is reporting. Anyone, including prison employees, found to be attempting to provide an inmate with a cell phone could be charged with a misdemeanor and a maximum fine of $5,000. In January, Charles Manson was found with a cell phone in his prison cell for the second time, which he had kept hidden beneath his mattress. MSNBC said he used the device to make phone calls and send messages to California, British Columbia, Florida, and New Jersey. Read More. |
