REGINA — A veteran jail guard charged in connection with a drug investigation at the Regina Correctional Centre is facing new charges. Escorted into Regina Provincial Court Monday morning by RCMP officers, Brent Miles Taylor appeared on two new charges — breaching a previous release condition by allegedly having contact with a woman that he wasn't supposed to and obstructing justice by communicating with a Crown witness prior to his preliminary hearing. The woman named in the first charge had also originally been charged in the drug investigation, but those charges were later withdrawn. The new offences are alleged to have occurred Jan. 5. Taylor, 49, remains in custody and is to be back in court Tuesday for the start of his preliminary hearing on his previous charges. He's charged with breach of trust, possession of crime proceeds, and numerous counts of drug trafficking and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He also faces two firearms charges stemming from a search of his home. Read More. |
