| CO Civilians Help Capture Wanted Man |

An alert and armed civilian Tuesday night helped authorities apprehend a fugitive who nearly ran over two Pueblo police officers Sunday evening before leading law enforcement officials from Pueblo and El Paso counties on a long but futile chase. Richard K. Roever, 50, is in custody at Pueblo County jail without chance for bail. He's being held as a Colorado Department of Corrections escapee, but could face two attempted homicide charges related to Sunday's chase, according to Pueblo Police Sgt. Steve Etienne. Etienne said the district attorney will decide whether there is enough evidence to prosecute on those charges, which stem from the start of Sunday night's chase in the driveway of a Pueblo home. Roever was arrested at about 6 p.m. Tuesday near where he was last seen Sunday night in the Midway area north of Pueblo — after abandoning one vehicle, finding another, crashing it and then fleeing on foot.
