| KY Jail Not Making Ends Meet |

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Officials tell 14 News the Daviess County Detention Center has been hit with many unfunded mandates the past couple of years. Having to release prisoners early and taking over finger printing duties has cost the jail money. Right now, they're facing a half-million dollar deficit. Jailer David Osborne says the jail has 100 less prisoners than it did last year at this time. "It's not easy. But we just keep going through each one of our contracts for our food service, our medical providers, and trying to renegotiate our contracts," Jailer Daviess County David Osborne. "Try to get a better price and that's what we've been able to do so far but there's a limit to how much you can do." Read More. |
