A corrections officer at the new Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center in Ohio has been cleared of any wrongdoing after law enforcement investigated a former prisoner's allegation of being forced into a sexual act by the officer. Russell Watson, a corrections officer at the detention center at 2980 W. Fair Ave., was placed on paid administrative leave last week while Lancaster police officers investigated the allegation by 17-year-old Joseph Cordle of Lancaster. According to the police report taken July 14, Cordle was admitted to Children's Hospital in Columbus on July 13, and during an evaluation with a physician, Cordle made the allegation against Watson. A Fairfield County Children Services representative filed the report with Lancaster police. The Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center is a state-of-the-art facility representing a collaborative effort between Fairfield, Licking, Perry and Hocking counties. It can house up to 50 juveniles and was opened on Feb. 9. |
