MI Attorney General Fights For Prisons |

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says he hopes closing prisons and releasing more inmates will not be part of Governor Rick Snyder's plans to save money in the corrections budget. . The governor will unveil his budget proposal Thursday. As the Republican candidate, Attorney General Schuette campaigned against Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm's corrections reforms. She closed prisons, ordered the parole of more inmates, and enacted a re-entry initiative that resulted in fewer felons returning to prison. Schuette says those reforms endangered the public.
