Details of the riot have been revealed for the first time during a Supreme Court trial. One of the eight maximum security inmates charged over the incident has pleaded guilty. Michael Lyndon Dennison, 34, was one of the ringleaders of the riot at Risdon last September. Six guards were kicked, punched and knocked to the ground during a series of assaults. Among their injuries were broken bones, cuts and bruising and two of the guards are still not back at work. Dennison pleaded guilty to eight assault charges and one count of unlawfully injuring property. The Court heard tensions escalated when maximum security inmates were asked to return to their cells and loud music was turned down by a prison guard. Read More. |
