| Attorneys Fight To Get Woman Off Death Row |

SIOUX CITY, Iowa --- A northern Iowa woman convicted of helping her boyfriend kill five people in 1993 will fight next month in a Sioux City courtroom to have her death sentence overturned. New attorneys for Angela Johnson, 47, wrote in court documents that they will provide evidence of several reasons the Forest City woman should be granted a new trial or have her judgment vacated, but focused much of their 164-page motion on the alleged failures of the attorneys who represented her at the trial five years ago. The first of a two-part hearing is scheduled to begin March 7 in U.S. District Court in Sioux City. A second round of testimony is slated for June. In December 2005 Johnson was convicted in the same federal court of five counts of aiding and abetting murder in the aid of a drug-trafficking offense and five counts of murder in aid of a continuing criminal enterprise.
