| 2011 Will Be Full Of Budget Short Falls |

Ouachita Parish police jurors learned Tuesday night that despite measures already taken to reduce costs, it appears Ouachita Correctional Center will run out of money before the end of the year. Further cost cutting in the amount of $1.5 million will likely be necessary. Finance chairman Charles Jackson said although the money will not run out until early December, it's time now to begin looking at where additional cuts can be made. "We're going to have to look at the personnel side," Jackson said. "We have to dictate the size the cuts need to be, but it's not too early for him (Warden Brian Newcomer) to be sharpening his pencil." Read More. |
