| Government Takes Over Investigation Of DOC Officer's Death |

A federal investigation is set to begin Monday into the murder of a Monroe prison corrections officer. The investigation comes at the request Governor Chris Gregoire, after an inmate allegedly strangled to death corrections officer Jayme Biendl as she worked in the chapel at the prison January 29th. "We have representatives from the National Institute of Corrections to look at our procedures and figure out if there's a way to make improvements," says Washington State Department of Corrections spokesman Chad Lewis.
