JACKSON, Miss. -- A candlelight vigil was held Monday outside the Mississippi Department of Corrections calling for the closure of the Walnut Grove Youth Facility. The rally came one year after what the protesters called a violent melee at the Leake County facility. The members of the group said they have loved ones who are being kept at the juvenile detention center and because of the private contractor's poor operation, those teenagers are in danger. They said they want the facility closed down and the state to move the inmates to safer sites. Read More. |
