| SWAT Captures Probation Absconder |

A man who absconded probation held his roommate’s girlfriend against her will in their apartment during a 2-hour SWAT standoff Monday in Salt Lake City. Probation officers found the man about 6:15 p.m. outside an apartment near 300 East and Downington Avenue, said Utah Department of Corrections spokesman Steve Gerkhe. The man ran to his apartment, shutting himself and his roommate’s girlfriend inside, Gerkhe said. The man would not let the woman leave, and a negotiator and SWAT team were called to the scene, Gerkhe said.
