State Juvenile Jails To Consolidate |

IRMA - The Department of Corrections is set to consolidate its juvenile institutions, perhaps bringing more jobs to the Northwoods. The DOC will close two of the three juvenile institutions and consolidate operations at Lincoln Hills School in Irma. The DOC says the plan will save millions of dollars in yearly operating costs and will eliminate a $21.6 (m)illion dollar budget deficit in ten years. The move comes as populations at state juvenile institutions have been dropping while the deficit in the juvenile corrections budget has climbed. Read More. |
