2 PA lawmakers are calling for an investigation into a company trying to open a corrections facility in Lancaster County. Two House members want the Auditor General to investigate a corrections facility in Hazelton. The same company that runs that facility plans to open more halfway houses across the state, including in Manheim. "This facility has basically wreaked havoc on the community safety" says State Rep. Tarah Toohil (R). Toohil along w House Judiciary Majority Chair Rep. Ron Marsico sent this letter to Auditor General Jack Wagner asking for a probe of the facility run by a company called Minsec. The halfway house was home to nearly 200 inmates in downtown Hazelton and received 6 million dollars from the state last year. Toohil says in the small downtown of Hazelton, the inmates in the minimum security facility come and go when they please, and some have just walked away.
