MONROE, Wash. -- Protests are popping up outside 11 prisons across Washington Wednesday demanding better equipment and procedures to help make sure after a day of work, they can go home in one piece The correctional officers on the picket line feel, in a way, like they're fighting for their lives. "This is... a dangerous job, but it doesn't have to be as dangerous as the administration is making it for us," said Correctional Officer Carl Beatty.
