Man Guilty In Prison Financial Scheme |

A Gainesville businessman pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiring to pay kickbacks to former state prison chief James Crosby in exchange for canteen contracts. Edward Lee Dugger, 64, faces 24 to 39 months in prison under terms of his plea agreement with federal prosecutors in Jacksonville. The maximum sentence he could have faced was five years. U.S. District Judge Timothy Corrigan scheduled sentencing for July 27. Dugger's plea comes four years after Crosby, 58, began serving an eight-year prison sentence for taking kickbacks. Allen Clark , a former regional manager for the Department of Corrections and one of Crosby's top lieutenants, completed his 31-month sentence on the same charge in 2009. Read More. |
