Separate Court Appearances For Four Alleged Murderers |

Four men being held in a Douglas County double slaying made separate court appearances Thursday as they were formally charged in the case, but all chose not to have the charges read for them. The four were brought into court individually and said nothing. Josiah Sher looked briefly at an audience of about 30 gathered on the defense side of the courtroom, but his face showed no expression. Details of the charges remain sealed by the court. A database that maintains court records for the state shows that Christopher B. Wells, 49, the estranged husband of murder victim Amara Wells, 38, is being held on charges that include first-degree murder after deliberation, solicitation of first-degree murder after deliberation, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder after deliberation and felony murder, as well as assorted others, including menacing and assaulting a witness. Robert Rafferty Jr., 49, who was married to Christopher Wells' sister, also was killed, probably in the early hours of Feb. 23. Read More. |
