| Missouri Prisons To Suffer Budget Cuts |

JEFFERSON CITY | The Missouri House Budget Committee wants the Department of Corrections to make several changes in the way it spends its funding in the next fiscal year. In a budget proposal released Tuesday, the committee calls for an increase of about $2.7 million to fund overtime for department employees. That's about $1 million more than Gov. Jay Nixon requested in his proposed budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1. It also exceeds the amount the department requested. But the committee's proposal would also cut about $1.3 million in funding for maintaining the state's correctional institutions. Read More. |
