| Violent History Keeps Rape Suspect In Jail |

Curtis Lamar McBride, 51, remains in custody at the Coweta County Jail without bond, charged with the Feb. 19 attack on a woman and her daughter at the Sawgrass Manor neighborhood off Lora Smith Road. DNA evidence led to McBride's arrest Tuesday afternoon without incident. He has since been charged with rape, two counts armed robbery, two counts aggravated assault and two counts kidnapping, according to Major James Yarbrough of the Coweta County Sheriff's Office. Coweta authorities say that McBride was a resident at 6108 Christopher Trace in Ellenwood, Ga., in Clayton County. Information originally led authorities to believe that McBride was a resident of DeKalb County. Upon further examination, investigators discovered that McBride is a registered sex offender claiming to live in DeKalb at his sister's address. In actuality, he resides with his wife at the Ellenwood address. The Ellenwood address violates sex offender law, which is why McBride allegedly lied to authorities about his permanent residence, according to Yarbrough. Read More. |
