Parents Arrested For Unsecured Weapon |

ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) The parents of a North Asheboro Middle School student accused of having a gun on school property were arrested on weapons charges Wednesday. Martin Carbajal and Virginia Lopez, both of 720 Old Liberty Road, Asheboro, were both charged with failing to secure a .380-caliber handgun that ended up on school property on Tuesday, Asheboro police said. Lopez was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond. Carbajal posted his own $2,500 secured bond and has been placed on a federal detainer with Immigration and Customs Enforcement after police found he was an undocumented immigrant. Carbajal was also convicted on felony drug possession charges in 1999, North Carolina Department of Corrections records showed. Read More. |
