Natural Causes Take Down Death Row Inmate |

Prison officials say an Eyman State Prison inmate has died of natural causes while awaiting execution for the 1997 murder of a Bard farmer in the parking lot of a Yuma restaurant. According to Barret Marson, a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Corrections, 62-year-old Vincent Lee Accardo died at a hospital outside the prison at about 9:27 p.m. Wednesday. Marson said Accardo was taken from the ASPC-Eyman's Browning Unit, where he was being housed, to Mt. Vista Hospital on Feb. 14 due to health reasons. Accardo was sentenced to death for the first-degree murder of Kenneth Cloud on June 27, 2008, in Yuma County Superior Court by a jury of eight women and four men. Read More. |
