| Woman Gets 18 Years For Crimes Against Children |

MANITOWOC — A 26-year-old Newton woman was sentenced to 18 years in prison Feb. 17 in Manitowoc County Circuit Court for first-degree sexual assault of a child as a party to a crime between June 7 and 11. The woman, who pleaded guilty in November, admitted taking sexually explicit photographs of three girls — ages 2, 5 and 7 — and sexually assaulting one after a Wisconsin Department of Corrections officer found the pornographic images on a registered sex offender’s cell phone, according to the criminal complaint. The woman’s name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victims. Attorneys agreed to amend the charge to party to a crime because she took the photographs for the arousal of the sex offender, Jeffrey Prahl, 29, of Whitelaw. Prahl was sentenced to life in prison without parole in September for first-degree sex assault of a child under 13 as a persistent repeater. Prahl told Manitowoc County Sheriff's investigators he had victimized nearly 30 other children over the past several years.
