| Local Man's Father Imprisoned In Libya |

DUNWOODY, Ga. -- A local man says his father was thrown in a Libyan prison 21 years ago and he hasn't heard from him since. Ahmed Almegaryaf has many questions and few answers about whether his father, Izzat, is still alive. "He was kidnapped from Egypt in 1990, basically as a freedom fighter, bringing democracy to the people of Libya," Almegaryaf said. Almegaryaf said his dad was imprisoned for speaking out against Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. Almegaryaf said the only memories he has of his dad are early childhood pictures and a letter his dad wrote while in prison back in 1993. Almegaryaf said the letter was smuggled out of a prison in Tripoli and mailed to his mother in Georgia many years ago. They haven't heard from Izzat since. Read More. |
