Serial Killer Dorothea Puente Dies at 82 |

The Sacramento woman convicted of killing her tenants and burying them in her downtown backyard died yesterday in the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla. Dorothea Puente was 82. Puente was serving two life sentences and a concurrent 15-year-to-life sentence after being convicted of three murders in 1993. The jury did not reach verdicts on six other murder counts. Authorities say Puente drugged her elderly tenants and stole their money and social security checks. Puente's case received international attention, like in this dramatized British television show.
