3 guards indicted in beating of prisoner |

Three fired prison guards have been indicted over the alleged beating of an inmate at a maximum-security unit in Texas. The Amarillo Globe-News reported Wednesday that a fourth indicted guard retired after the June 2010 incident at the Clements Unit. A Potter County grand jury on March 9 indicted John Jowers II, Matthew Borunda, Robert Nixon and Jeremy Bevill on misdemeanor official oppression charges. Conviction carries a penalty of up to a year in jail. Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Jason Clark says Jackie Ronald Green is serving a life term for a 2007 killing in Smith County.
