Escapee apprehended Saturday night |

Hudson NY - Route 9G was closed down for an hour between Union Street and Route 23 Saturday night when a convict briefly escaped from Hudson Correctional Facility. The escapee was apprehended by the New York State Police. The NYSP reported that they received a call from the facility at about 10:11 p.m. advising of an escaped inmate that fled into the woods adjacent to the prison. A head count of inmates revealed that Daniel Tariol, 25, was missing from the work release facility. The State Police, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Hudson Police and Greenport Police responded to assist the State Correctional Facility staff. According to a press release from Troop K of the State Police, Livingston Barracks, Tariol was located by State Police patrols on Route 9 in Greenport about 10:40 p.m. He was charged with first-degree escape, arraigned in Hudson City Court and turned over to Hudson Correctional Facility.
