A sex offender has been sentenced to the maximum of seven to 14 years in prison for carjacking a teenage girl in Plainview and forcing her to drive around before she escaped. William Tockash was found guilty of coercion, criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful imprisonment in Nassau County court last month. Prosecutors said the 51-year-old Plainview man knocked on the window of a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old girl who was waiting at a red light, asked her for the time, then unlocked her door and forced his way inside in December 2009. Tockash told the victim to drive around, told her to stop on Joyce Road where he put the car in park, put his hands across her face and mouth and put his mouth on her cheek. The victim grabbed the keys and escaped. Tockash fled the scene but was apprehended when he returned to his vehicle parked near the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library. Read More. |
