BURLEY, Idaho (AP) — A former teacher from Burley has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a minor for engaging in online sexual conduct with a junior high school student. Forty-two-year-old Michael Brinkerhoff entered his plea Monday as part of an agreement with prosecutors. In exchange, prosecutors will dismiss one count of enticing a child over the Internet. The Times-News reports Brinkerhoff faces a maximum of 25 years in prison and fines. But defense attorney Keith Roark said Brinkerhoff could be eligible for a sentence that requires evaluation and treatment before a decision is made in prison time. Brinkerhoff was suspended from the school district after he was arrested and accused of pretending to be a teenage boy and taking part in online sexual conversations with a 14-year-old girl.
