Sheriff's barbecue aids Japan relief |

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office on Monday donated thousands of dollars in proceeds from a recent barbecue plate sale to the American Red Cross' disaster relief efforts in Japan and the Pacific. Deputy Chief Dale Bennett said Detective Kenneth Murray, whose wife is from Japan, helped to coordinate the plate sale last Wednesday at the Bexar County Jail. More than 500 plates of donated barbecue from DJ's Catering for the Soul were sold, funding the $2,500 check that was presented to the San Antonio Area Chapter of the American Red Cross on Monday.
