Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mike Tubbs is hoping to find more young people like Randall Carroll who want to take the oath to protect and serve the public. Carroll was recognized recently by the North Delta Region Training Academy at ceremonies for the 113th class to graduate during ceremonies at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. “Randall’s been with us for almost a year, and his achieving Level 1 certification is an accomplishment,” Tubbs said. “They’re subjected to some pretty strenuous testing and evaluation, and he did quite well.” The ceremony honored 23 new police officers representing 13 different agencies from across northeast Louisiana. Carroll earned P.O.S.T. certification after the 12-week course. He finished in academic standing in his class with an overall average of 95.66, was given the Flag Raiser award by academy director Pat Stewart and was recognized for completing the 7 mile "Death Run." Tubbs said each deputy sent through the academy costs the department just over $1,300, half of which is reimbursed by the state if they also achieve state certification. Read More. |
