State prison could become county jail |

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM)- The Muskegon County Sheriff is looking at the financial implications of moving the county jail. County officials recently toured the Muskegon Correctional Facility. The state-owned prison will close this summer when prisoners from Pennsylvania return to that state. The sheriff and others are trying to determine if the empty prison space could function as a county jail. The idea could relieve over-crowding issues at the current jail. Read More. |
