A prison riot that injured more than a dozen inmates and caused millions of dollars in damage has led Colorado officials to temporarily stop taking out-of-state inmates. Colorado is part of a federal interstate agreement that allows prisons to exchange prisoners when needed. Several hundred prisoners rioted at the Olney Springs prison two weeks ago, setting fires that left two units uninhabitable. One inmate remains hospitalized with stab wounds. The facility run by Nashville-based Corrections Corporation of America remains on lockdown, and inmate visitation has been canceled. |
