Hill named as Rainbow City police chief |

Rick Hill, a 22-year veteran of the Rainbow City Police Department, was approved Monday night as the department's new chief. Hill was named acting chief on March 28. The Rainbow City Council Monday night voted unanimously to name him chief. Hill began his law enforcement career in Shelby County, where he grew up. He worked at the Shelby County Sheriff's Office as a corrections officer and reserve deputy. He worked Saturdays and Sundays at the Thorsby Police Department to pay his way through the police academy. He then worked at the Montevallo Police Department before coming to Rainbow City in 1989.
